Ms. Lopez currently is Secretary of the Omaha Public Library Foundation’s Board of Directors and a member of the Nebraska StoryArts Advisory Board. Prior community service included Chairman of the Omaha Housing Authority Board of Commissioners; Vice President for Commissioners of the Board of Governors of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO); Chairman of Welfare Reform Task Force for NAHRO; Vice Chairman of Governor Nelson’s Welfare Reform Task Force; Vice Chairman of Mayor PJ Morgan’s Master Plan Advisory Committee and member of Catholic Charities Board of Directors and Chairman of the Social Justice Advisory Committee. She was a volunteer for the Durham Western Heritage Museum, United Way, Omaha Community Playhouse, ICAN, Nebraska Choral Arts Society, the annual Children’s Hospital Profile in Excellence Awards and founder of the Omaha Housing Authority’s reading club for youth.
Professional Honors & Awards
Ms. Lopez was awarded the Elizabeth B. Wells national award for achievement in housing and community development in 1995; selected as a Rotary International Foundation Group Study Exchange Team Member to Botswana and South Africa in 1997; inducted into Pi Alpha Alpha Honorary Society in 1999; awarded the Catholic Charities’ Archbishop’s Distinguished Board Member Award for 2001; the Safety and Health Council’s OPPD Service to Community Safety Award recipient in 2002; and the CPACS Alumni Award for Excellence in Public Service in 2003.
